Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy
(EDUCATIONAL dEVELOPMENT)

The purpose of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is to provide support and encouragement to young African American girls, primarily ages 11 to 14 (middle school), as they navigate early adolescence and prepare for leadership in the 21st century.
The Delta Academy aims to:
-
Enrich and empower young girls through academic support, mentorship, and life skills development.
-
Expose participants to careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and other non-traditional fields for women.
-
Promote sisterhood, cultural pride, and self-confidence during a critical developmental stage.
-
Encourage service and social responsibility through community engagement and leadership opportunities.
-
Provide a safe space for personal growth, discussion, and guidance.
Named in honor of Dr. Betty Shabazz, educator and widow of Malcolm X, the Delta Academy is a cornerstone of Delta Sigma Theta’s commitment to educational development and preparing the next generation of African American women for success.
